Doing away with all that

December 28, 2016 by ds83473@gmail.com

I’ve been making a list of the things I expect our president elect to do away with. Of course, the big and most serious one is Obamacare, otherwise known as health insurance for millions of people. The thing that burns me is that the Republicans keep touting health savings accounts as the answer – but where do you get the money to put in the health savings account, for Pete’s sake!??

I’m really worried about the environmental stuff *. For example, while walking to work this morning, I had to step aside to get out of the way of a hybrid powered grounds truck here at University of WI. The grounds people here are also using electric golf carts. And in the last few years, all the buildings have been re-wired to have the energy saving auto on/off lights – wonder if there’ll be a federally sponsored program to yank all of them, like there was to put them in? As far as I’m concerned, they can come and take away the “up for #1, down for #2” toilets if they want. I first saw them in a new public library branch and the system and signage seemed to me like too many library systems and signage – overly complex, and not designed to make it easy for the customer to do the right thing.

I expect bike paths and recycle bins to start disappearing after January 20th.

And what about local and organic food? Access for more people to “Healthy” food – and better food labeling. And all the programs to get better (well, what us liberal elites call better) food into schools and other organizations? I guess the food co-op movement will have to re-embrace its somewhat subversive roots.

The thing that got me thinking about this was an NPR story from right before Christmas, about major toy makers – like American Girl – making dolls with disabilities.

He’ll definitely do away with all that.
