Deb's Lunch ... and Dinner and Breakfast too

A regular Sunday

January 9, 2017 by ds83473@gmail.com

So I guess yesterday was the first ordinary Sunday in January, because New Year’s Day was Sunday this year.

I got up and made cherry muffins and a few rhubarb ones. As I suspected, the rhubarb ones aren’t very pretty.

Then I went out to the fabric store and got a bunch of pink fleece for pussyhats. I guess I should be sewing them up right now, but it’s Monday night after a full work day … I’ll try tomorrow. They need to get shipped by Thursday, if they’re going to make it to the Women’s March on Washington. At least I picked up the special priority express mail box for the shipping, so that’s something done today.

We had a full English breakfast, pretty much – beans, eggs, sausage, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, with the addition of the last of the hoppin’ John and the muffins.

When I was out getting the fabric, I also went to Bed, Bath & Beyond for a new dish drainer – the one I have was getting too corroded and stained. I picked up this cool map of WI bamboo cutting board, and also got a bag of cheese curds (from Pick & Save, not Bed Bath). I fried them up while the Packers were still losing, and it must’ve worked – even though the curds got really melty, they started winning while I was frying. It was kind of like cheese curd pancake.

I mixed up seasoned flour, 1/2 cup flour for this 3/4 pound bag of curds, with salt, pepper, Penzey’s Old World Wisconsin seasoning, and paprika. Dump the flour into the cheese curd bag and shake. Heat butter and oil in a frying pan, then dump the floured curds into a strainer over a bowl to remove excess flour, and fry. Like I said these went really flat, but they were still tasty and got the Packers’ mojo going, so that’s all that matters.
