Deb's Lunch ... and Dinner and Breakfast too

I guess I made it

Baci di dama at Cook's Illustrated

Baci di dama at Cook’s Illustrated

I must be done because I’m out of containers to put cookies in. It’s Wednesday and the party is Saturday. I made two last cookie kinds today, although they’re not actually all the way done – the almond rainbow bars will need to glazed and cut in the morning, and the teeny hazelnut  baci – new this year – need to be sandwiched with chocolate. They’re Cook’s Illustrated, but David Lebovitz has a very detailed recipe, too. I only made one batch of the almond rainbow this year; one 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan that I should be able to cut into 50-60 bars. Sure was easier to do the smaller batch!

I took tomorrow and Friday as vacation days; tomorrow will be party shopping and pack cookie boxes, Friday will be ship the boxes, go to a meeting on campus, then party food.

My plan is to keep the party food a little simpler this year, too. Cheese & salami boards, lots of spreads from the freezer that I made with summer & fall produce, like pepperonata and leek confit.

More pics soon, promise. The overleaf is glitter poinsettias, courtesy Trader Joe’s. Like glitter poinsettias – really?! They’re already poisonous – great idea to make them scatter glitter throughout your house, too.
