Deb's Lunch ... and Dinner and Breakfast too

News from backyard & kitchen

July 27, 2020 by ds83473@gmail.com

Dog vomit fungus, more blooms on my volunteer vine growing from the compost, chocolate chip scones and St. Louis-style cheesecake, fluffy, with whipped egg whites, that I love in concept but was a bit weak in execution. The crust got a little dark and hard and the eggs a bit too scrambled. I bought a 10-inch spring form so I can try it again with better equipment. Overleaf is the cheesecake covered in berries the next day, when the crust had softened and the berries greatly improved it. Bubbe prunes and tomato tart for Sunday brunch.

Stuff to cook list and heavy rain on Sunday night.

Pizza and beer for Monday dinner.

We are so fucked. There’re protesters on the lawn at our County D.A.’s house, and the police officers Union took a no confidence vote against the mayor. In the case ofthe mayor, I think it’s the old saying, that I have heard attributed to Bill Graham, who was definitely an asshole, that it’s better to work for an asshole – like our old mayor, someone who’s abrasive, but gets the job done – than a jerk. Pretty much our current mayor. A good wishy-washy liberal trying to be everyone’s friend.

Satya Rhodes-Conway and Paul Soglin

And masks – Jimmy Fallon said they’re the car mirror fuzzy dice of 2020; Susan Smith says they’re the used condoms of 2020, because they’re lying around everywhere; I saw a New Yorker cartoon where the rats were using them as hammocks. I can’t find it, I’ve tried leafing through recent magazines and online searches and neither has unearthed it. Any of you remember it?
