Deb's Lunch ... and Dinner and Breakfast too

Twos-day

February 22, 2022 by ds83473@gmail.com

02-22-2022, Mom & Eustace’s actual 97th birthday.

Portrait of Oma by my niece Mimi – I know I’ve told you before, but I still have that turtleneck and wear it for pajamas, when I’m home alone, because if I’m sleeping  with Mark, it’s too warm; and the original New Yorker Cover, courtesy Wikipedia.

We are having a snow day, due to the threatened ice storm. The schools are closed, the food pantry is closed, and I’m going to work from home. So right now am “working” in my PJs – messing around with this blog post for now, and soon, grading.

And making vegetable soup and challah – my old recipe this time (because I found it online the other day, lurking in a file structure on my server, not linked to) instead of Molly Yeh’s (this King Arthur version is halved, 1 loaf), that I baked for 2021 Rosh Hashanah, that came on the early side in September, last Fall. Mine has more dairy – butter and milk – and hers has more oil and sugar.

So far the weather seems quite un-severe. Both newspapers came, and I went out and salted the sidewalk. There’s only a dust of snow, no ice as yet, and it’s cold and windy.

9:00 – time to go brush my teeth, get dressed, set the challah sponge, and get to work!

Sourdough challah, March 2021, that cracked when I unmolded it
