Deb's Lunch ... and Dinner and Breakfast too

Threatening

July 7, 2020 by ds83473@gmail.com

This afternoon for about an hour it just kept getting darker and darker, and there was even a little thunder, but no rain. I mean, now it’s raining hard AF, but there was a long threatening period.

Kind of like dozens of other threatening things hanging over us now.

I think I’ll just post a bunch of food pictures and call it a day. And maybe some wildlife.

Washing kale leaves in the sink

Kale made into greens cheese pie – home made puff pastry that I think did not rise as much as it should – but tasted good

Waiting for everyone – all 3 of them – to show up on July 4

Getting the grill started – I wanted the fire to burn down, and not be crazy hot, but I charred the fancy brats from the local sustainable meats store anyways.

Crane on our walk Sunday morning

There were two, and Mark is taking a picture of  them

The closest I got to this guy

Going back where they came from

King Arthur Flour rustic sourdough. It has sourdough starter and yeast, and makes a tighter crumb bread that Mark likes, especially if I go easy on the whole wheat flour. The smaller one rose and hit the lid of the pot I baked it in, giving it a funny shape, but texture & taste are OK

John, who’s been baking lovely sesame topped sourdough breads, suggests a box cutter for a cheap lame – smart

Fennel frond & basil pesto

On pasta

Antipasto pasta salad (Leftover from 4th of July) on greens for Monday dinner

And now there’s a rainbow. And the basement was all dry when I went down to check before bed.
