This was going to be “Pumpkin, pumpkin, and kittens”, because I actually made two things with pumpkin Saturday, but only one was photographed:<\/p>\n

Pumpkin date scones, been making them for years – here’s the recipe<\/a>, posted in the 1990s and it shows.<\/p><\/div>\n

The pumpkin item that was not photographed was Yossi Arefi’s olive oil pumpkin cake, that I was trying for the first time, to take to Steve & Heike’s 40th anniversary party.\u00a0 After they invited us, I first thought that Mark & I would never make it to 40 years together because we got together later in life. But I was 40 and he was 44, and it’s entirely possible that I will live to be 80 – I’m actually aiming for 92 so I can see my older son turn 60 – and even more possible that Mark will live to 84 because both his parents lived longer than mine.<\/p>\n

It was a really nice party – live music and food in the backyard.<\/p>\n

I guess there was<\/em> another pumpkin thing over the weekend – Sunday Pia and I went to my CSA’s gleaning day and we got a pumpkin. Pia picked it out and it’s quite nice.<\/p>\n

We also got a bunch of flowers.<\/p>\n

And probably too much squash.<\/p>\n

And lots of greens and some big red peppers, no pics of those. After the gleaning, we went and picked up the kittens.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
