Then I started pedaling and realized said pencil skirt doesn&#8217;t really allow the best range of motion for biking.<\/p>\n<p>The whole day was kind of like that. And I still <a href=\"https:\/\/www.debslunch.com\/blog\/2016\/09\/29\/first-cold-of-the-season\/\">have a cold<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I went for a longer walk than I&#8217;d planned, and uncharacteristically, ate a little breakfast at home, instead of packing breakfast and eating at work. The last of the vanilla yogurt, about 1\/3-1\/2 of a cup, with just a little bit of the new batch of granola &#8211; healthy and satisfying. Unfortunately that good start didn&#8217;t prevent me from overindulging after dinner &#8211; a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.debslunch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/chocolove.jpg\">little bit of chocolate<\/a> and some graham crackers with Nutella and homemade marshmallow fluff.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of dinner, I made a goat cheese and squash tart. I had a meeting that miraculously let out early, and I was home by 4:15. I thought I&#8217;d get the squash in the oven then just lie on the couch and read while it baked. The squash part went fine. I cubed up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BLC4ebLjGWk\/\">the long neck<\/a>, and roasted the bulb for hard squash hummus, which I made after dinner (and probably sampled a bit too much). But instead of repose, I ended up answering work emails, 2 grad students complaining because they got an A- instead of an A, someone else&#8217;s student asking for help in a class I often teach, but not this fall &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The tart was a bit of a frustration as well. I forgot to get the pie crust out to soften, so I softened it in the microwave &#8211; which I&#8217;ve done about a thousand times before &#8211; you need to only put it in for about 10 seconds, and no more than 20% power. Well, I think I put it in for a minute at 100% &#8211; I caught it after 30 seconds, almost melted. I floured it well, then set the dough on parchment and rolled it out there, and then just lifted it to the pan. I think it turned out OK.<\/p>\n<p>Now the sink&#8217;s full of dirty dishes and I&#8217;m full of Nutella and marshmallow fluff. And graham crackers and chocolate. But maybe if I do the dishes and get into pajamas, there&#8217;s still be time for that lie down on the couch.
